Socrates explained that the secret to success is wanting it as much as I wanted air underwater. It made me realize that a strong desire is the starting point for achieving anything.

Since that experience, I feel a newfound determination inside me. I understand that I must work hard and never give up, even when things get tough. I am grateful for this lesson and feel a sense of responsibility to pursue my dreams.

Today is the beginning of a new chapter. I am filled with hope and ready to face any challenges that come my way.

Monday,

12th November, 1927.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today was an eventful day by the river with the young man. I decided to teach him a valuable lesson about success. I surprised him by submerging him in the water, and he struggled to breathe. When I finally let him up, I asked him what he wanted the most in that moment, and he said, "Air!"

Observing the change in his eyes, I felt a sense of fulfilment. It is my purpose to guide others towards wisdom and self-discovery. Today, I planted a seed of determination in the young man's heart, and I hope it will grow into something remarkable.

18. Describe the possible inner feelings of Murthy when his father disappointed him telling the bitter truth.

When Murthy's father told him, he couldn't go to the IIT because of money, he felt really sad inside. He had worked so hard and did well in the entrance exam, and he really wanted to study there. But he understood that his father had a big family to take care of and couldn't afford it.

Even though he was disappointed, Murthy didn't get angry or upset with his father. He knew it was a tough decision for him to make. He didn't want to make things harder for his family.

Inside, Murthy's heart was hurting, but he didn't want to give up. He wanted to find a way to keep learning and follow his dreams, even if it meant doing things differently. He knew he had to be strong and not let this stop him from trying his best.

So, even though he felt really down, Murthy made a promise to himself to keep working hard and find another path to success. He believed that with determination and perseverance, he could still make a difference and show everyone what he was capable of.

19. Describe Murthy father's feelings when he disappointed his son on the day the results announced.

The weight of their financial limitations and the responsibilities of a large family crushed him inside. As he looked into Murthy's hopeful eyes, he couldn't bear the thought of shattering his dreams.

The father's eyes filled with sorrow, knowing that he couldn't afford his son's expenses at the esteemed IIT. He longed to provide him with the opportunities he deserved, but circumstances held them back. The disappointment etched on Murthy's face was like a dagger to his father's soul.

His heart ached with the realization that he had to deliver the bitter truth, dashing Murthy's hopes. He wished he could change their situation, rewrite their story, and give Murthy the chance to soar. But the weight of responsibilities pressed upon him, and he had to make a difficult choice for the sake of their family's stability.

In the depths of his being, the father yearned for Murthy to understand the reasons behind his decision. He prayed that his son would find strength and resilience amidst this setback. Love overflowed from his heart, and he vowed to continue supporting Murthy's journey, even if it meant seeking alternative paths to success.

Though his father's actions brought disappointment, there was an unwavering love and a flicker of hope that one day, Murthy would realize the sacrifices made and the deep love that always existed within his father's heart.

Dear Diary,

Today was a tough day for me. Dad taught me a valuable lesson, and now I feel so regretful. I didn't listen to him when he told me to be careful with my toys. I broke my favorite doll, and I can't fix it. Dad was disappointed, but he explained why it's important to take care of our things. Now I understand, and I wish I had listened. Dear Diary,

Today was a really hard day for me. I made a big mistake, and now I feel so sorry. Dad taught me an important lesson, and I wish I had listened earlier. I was being mean to my little brother, and it made him sad. Dad talked to me and explained how important it is to be kind to others. I realized I hurt my brother's feelings, and I regret it so much. From now on, I promise to be nicer and treat him with love and respect.

26. At the end of the one act play, the dear departed, the daughters might have felt guilt for their greed and missing their father. Imagine that they went to his father and apologized. Now, write a possible conversation among Abel (father), Amelia (daughter) and Elizabeth (daughter).

Abel: (Sitting on a chair in the living room, looking sad)

Amelia: (Enters the room, feeling sorry) Dad, can we talk?

Abel: (Looks up, surprised) Of course, Amelia. What's the matter?

Amelia: (Nervously) Dad, I'm sorry for being greedy earlier. I forgot what really matters.

Abel: (Smiles kindly) It's alright, Amelia. I appreciate you saying that.

Elizabeth: (Enters the room, hesitantly) Dad, can I join the conversation too?

Abel: Of course, Elizabeth. What's on your mind?

Elizabeth: (Regretfully) Dad, I'm sorry too. I got carried away with the money and forgot how much we mean to each other.

Abel: (Gently) It's never too late to realize what's important, Elizabeth. I'm glad you understand now.

Amelia: (Tears in her eyes) We miss you, Dad. We miss the times we had together, the laughter, and the love we shared.

Abel: (Touched) My dear daughters, I miss you too. Money can come and go, but family is what truly matters.

Elizabeth: (Softly) We promise to treasure the memories we made with you, Dad, and put family first.

Abel: That makes me happy, Elizabeth. Remember, love and being together is what counts. Let's move forward, closer as a family.

Amelia: (Sniffles) Thank you, Dad. We won't let greed blind us again. We'll honor your memory by supporting each other.

Abel: That's all I could ask for. I love you both, my dear daughters.

Amelia & Elizabeth: We love you too, Dad.

27. The potter worked hard all the day. He drank the palm whine served by his wife. He felt no longer tired as he drank much. Then he found his donkey tied under the tree. But there began rain. He found his donkey missing. Now, write a possible conversation between the potter and his wife when then found the donkey missing.

Potter: (Returning home tired) Ah, what a long day of work! I could really use a drink of palm wine to refresh myself.

Wife: (Smiling) Welcome back, my dear. I have prepared some palm wine for you. Sit down and relax.

Potter: (Drinking the palm wine) Ah, this is refreshing! Thank you, my dear. I feel much better now.

Wife: I'm glad it helps. You've worked so hard today. Oh, by the way, I noticed that our donkey was tied under the tree earlier. Did you forget to untie him before the rain started?

Potter: (Looking worried) Oh no, I completely forgot! The rain started pouring, and I didn't bring the donkey into the stable. Let's go and check on him now.

(They both rush outside and search around the tree.)

Wife: (Looking concerned) I can't see the donkey anywhere. He's not here!

Potter: (Becoming anxious) Oh, my foolish donkey! He must have run off into the forest. I can't believe I forgot about him.

Wife: It's alright, my dear. We will find him. Let's not worry too much. Maybe he just wandered off nearby. We'll search the forest and ask the villagers if they have seen him.

Potter: Yes, you're right. We'll find our donkey. I'll go ask the neighbours if they saw him. Let's hope he didn't go too far.

Wife: Don't worry, my love. We'll find him together. Let's stay positive and keep searching. Our donkey can't be too far away.

(They both out to search for their missing donkey, determined to find him and bring him back home.)

28. On the next day morning, people of the village found the tiger tied under the tree. They praised the potter as brave potter for recuing them from the danger of the tiger. But the innocent potter said that he just tied his donkey under the tree. Now, write a possible imaginary conversation among villagers and the potter.

Villager 1: (Excitedly) Look, everyone! The potter has caught a tiger and tied it to the tree!

Villager 2: (Surprised) Oh my goodness! How did he manage to capture such a dangerous beast?

Villager 3: (Approaching the potter) Potter, you have done a brave deed! You have saved us from the tiger's attacks. We are grateful to you.

Potter: (Confused) What are you all talking about? There's been a misunderstanding. I didn't catch a tiger. I only tied my donkey under the tree.

Villager 1: (In disbelief) Come on, potter! We saw the tiger with our own eyes. It was right here, tied to this tree.

Villager 2: (Supporting the potter) Maybe it was just a big cat, not a tiger. We all know how brave and strong you are, potter!

Potter: (Shaking his head) No, I assure you it was my donkey. I don't know how this confusion happened.

Villager 3: (Admiringly) Potter, you are so humble! Even after such a heroic act, you don't want to take credit for it. You truly are the brave potter!

Potter: (Still puzzled) But I didn't do anything extraordinary. I was just trying to find my donkey. I didn't realize it would cause such confusion.

Villager 1: (Smiling) Well, whether it was a tiger or a donkey, you showed courage and saved us from danger. We will always remember you as the brave potter.

Villager 2: (Patting the potter's shoulder) You have earned our respect, potter. Thank you for protecting our village.

Potter: (Grateful but modest) Thank you, my friends. I'm glad I could help, even though it was unintentional. I will always be here for my community.

(The villagers continue to praise the potter, acknowledging his bravery and expressing their gratitude, while the potter remains humble, still perplexed by the mistaken identity of the animal.)

29. The donkey ran away. The potter after having a long day's work and taking palm whine went in search of the donkey into the forest nearby. Now, describe the feelings of the potter about his donkey, how it made him angry.

Oh no, my donkey has run away! After a tiring day of work and drinking palm wine, I went to find my donkey, but it was nowhere to be seen. It made me so angry!

I worked hard making pottery with my hands, and the donkey just left me like that. I can't believe it! I feel so betrayed and hurt. It's not fair!

I'm walking through this forest, and all I can think about is how mad I am at that donkey. It's causing me so much trouble and extra work. I can't understand why it would do this to me.

I want to teach it a lesson. I'll tie it up under a tree all night to show it that running away is wrong. It needs to learn that actions have consequences.

As I walk, I trip over branches and roots, and it just adds to my frustration. I can't stop thinking about how the donkey left me. It's not right!

I want the donkey to come back and realize the mistake it made. It needs to know how much it hurt me. I'm determined to find it and make it understand.

I'm so angry, and it's hard to see anything else. The forest doesn't look beautiful anymore because all I can see is that donkey and all I can feel is this burning rage.

I promise you, that donkey will regret leaving me. It will see how much it disappointed me. It will feel my anger, and things won't be the same between us anymore.

30. A few years later of the tiger incident, the neighbour country was trying to invade the potter's country. The king wanted a strong and sensible General of the Army to fight with the enemy. The called for his minister for a meeting to find out the one who can lead his army into the battle. Now, write a possible conversation among the king and the other courtiers.

King: My loyal ministers, we are facing a grave threat from our neighbouring country. They seek to invade our land and conquer us. We need a brave and wise General to lead our army into battle. I summon you here today to discuss and find the one who can fulfill this crucial role. Any suggestions?

Minister 1: Your Majesty, we need someone with both strength and strategic thinking. The General must inspire our soldiers and devise effective battle plans to defend our land.

Minister 2: I agree, Your Majesty. We should also consider someone with experience in warfare, someone who has demonstrated bravery and leadership skills.

Minister 3: Your Majesty, may I suggest the name of the potter? He may not have a background in military affairs, but his previous acts of courage and unexpected feats have shown that he possesses extraordinary qualities.

King: The potter? Are you sure, Minister?

Minister 3: Yes, Your Majesty. Remember the tale of the potter who captured a tiger and saved the village from its danger. He displayed bravery and creativity in that incident. Perhaps he could exhibit the same qualities on a larger scale as our General.

Minister 1: Your Majesty, the potter's story has already become a legend in our land. People admire his courage. He might be the unexpected hero we need in these trying times.

King: Very well. Send a messenger to the potter's house immediately. Invite him to the palace. I shall meet him and assess his abilities first-hand. If he proves himself worthy, he shall lead our army into battle.

Minister 2: Your Majesty, it is a bold choice, but sometimes it is the unlikeliest of heroes who rise to the occasion and bring victory.

King: I hope you are right, my ministers. Let us have faith in the potter's potential and in the destiny of our kingdom. May he be the one to lead us to triumph!

31. When the potter learned that he was made the General of the army, he felt nervous. He thought that the stupid donkey had sent him into the troubles again. He didn't know how to ride a horse and even he didn't know how to hold a sword. Now, describe the feelings of the potter how he got into troubles.

Oh no, what have I gotten myself into? Becoming the General of the army? Me, the humble potter? This feels like the donkey's doing, getting me into trouble again. Why did I have to tie him under that tree that day?

I'm so nervous, I don't even know how to ride a horse. How can I lead an army into battle when I can't even sit properly on a horse's back? And a sword? I've never held a sword before in my life. How will I fight with something so sharp and heavy?

I was just a simple potter, making clay pots and mugs. I never dreamt of commanding an army or facing enemies. Now, I am responsible for the safety of my country, for the lives of the soldiers who will follow my orders.

What if I make a mistake? What if I lead them into danger instead of victory? I feel the weight of this responsibility on my shoulders, like a mountain pressing down on me.

But wait, maybe there's a reason the king chose me. Maybe he sees something in me that I don't see in myself. Perhaps it's my determination and courage, just like when I faced that tiger all those years ago.

I must find strength within me, just like I did when I stood up to the tiger. I need to learn how to ride a horse, how to wield a sword, and most importantly, I need to believe in myself. I may not have the experience or the knowledge, but I have a brave heart, and that can make all the difference.

I will seek guidance from my wife and learn how to ride in the morning before the sunrise. I can to become a worthy General.

Yes, the donkey may have caused me trouble in the past, but perhaps this time, it has led me to a new path, a path of bravery and strength. I will embrace it and give my all, because sometimes, the most unexpected heroes can emerge from the humblest beginnings.

32. You have read the story, the brave potter, and get understood. Now, write a possible conversation between the potter and his wife when he returned from the battle field with the letter.

Potter: (Weary and entering the house) Oh, what a day it has been! My dear wife, I have returned from the battlefield.

Wife: (Worried and relieved) Oh, thank goodness you're back safely! I was so anxious while you were away. What happened, my brave potter? Did the battle go well?

Potter: (Sighing heavily) It was quite an adventure, my dear. I found myself on a horse, riding uncontrollably through enemy lines. I couldn't stop it, no matter how hard I tried.

Wife: (Surprised) On a horse? But you've never ridden one before! How did you manage?

Potter: It was sheer luck, my love. I held on for dear life, praying that I wouldn't fall off. The horse carried me straight into the enemy camp.

Wife: (In awe) Into the enemy camp? What happened then?

Potter: Believe it or not, my dear, the soldiers thought I was the legendary Tiger-General who captured a tiger with his bare hands. They were terrified and fled in fear. Their king even left a letter behind, seeking peace and apologizing for attacking our country.

Wife: (Amazed) That's incredible! So, you unknowingly brought about peace with your unexpected ride?

Potter: Yes, my dear. It was a twist of fate. I found the letter in their deserted camp. Our king must have been pleased, as he rewarded me for my actions.

Wife: (Smiling proudly) Oh, my brave potter! You have always surprised me with your courage. I knew you were destined for greatness.

Potter: (Grateful) And I couldn't have done it without your support, my dear wife. You tied me to that horse, ensuring I didn't fall off. You have always believed in me.

Wife: (Tenderly) You are my husband, and I will always stand by your side. I'm just glad you're safe and that our country is at peace now.

Potter: (Taking her hand) Together, we have faced many challenges, and we have overcome them. This experience has taught me the value of humility and the strength that lies within us.

Wife: (Smiling) You will always be my brave potter, whether you ride a horse or not. I am proud to be your wife.

Potter: And I am grateful to have you as my wife, my pillar of support. Let's cherish this peaceful moment and pray for a brighter future.

Journalist: Oh, that's quite remarkable! Were you scared when you discovered it was a tiger?

Potter: Absolutely! I was terrified! I never expected to encounter a tiger. But I had already bound it with a rope, so I couldn't escape its grasp.

Journalist: That must have been a nerve-wracking experience. Did you know the villagers were praising you for your bravery?

Potter: No, I had no idea! When I returned home, everyone was amazed and calling me the "brave potter." I couldn't understand why.

35. Write a possible diary entry of the potter on the day he won the battle for the mistake of the sentry.

Monday,

14th April, 1665.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today has been an extraordinary day, filled with both fear and triumph. Who could have imagined that my lack of knowledge in riding a horse would lead to such unexpected victory? The sentry mistook me for a fearsome warrior, the Tiger-General they called me. It was their fear that caused them to flee, not my own strength. I cannot help but feel a mix of confusion and gratitude. I hope this newfound fame brings peace to our land. I must remember to thank that silly donkey for inadvertently setting this chain of events in motion.

-        The Brave Potter

36. Write a possible diary entry of the potter on the day he found that he had tied the tiger under the tree.

Monday,

14th December, 1964.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today has been a day of disbelief and confusion. The village is praising me as the brave potter who tamed a tiger, but little do they know it was a case of mistaken identity. As I discovered this morning, it was not my donkey that I tied under the tree, but a real tiger! How could such a thing happen? I am overwhelmed with a mix of emotions - shock, surprise, and even a hint of fear. The villagers think I am a hero, but I feel like a fool caught in a strange twist of fate. I never imagined that a simple act would bring such unexpected consequences.

-        The Astonished Potter

37. Write a possible conversation between the potter and his wife on the day they were praised and gifted a lot of wealth by the king of the country.

Potter: Can you believe it, my dear? We have been appointed as the General of the Army by the king. Our lives have taken an unexpected turn.

Wife: It's truly remarkable! We never imagined such a responsibility would come our way. What should be our plan now?

Potter: We must rise to this challenge and lead the army with courage and wisdom. Our duty is to protect our country and its people.

Wife: Yes, we have been entrusted with a great responsibility. We must ensure the safety and well-being of our soldiers and strategize for victory.

Potter: Indeed. We need to train and strengthen our army, forge alliances with neighboring kingdoms, and devise effective battle plans.

Wife: And what about our pottery business and our future plans?

Potter: While our focus will be on leading the army, we shouldn't forget our roots. We can appoint trustworthy managers to oversee our pottery business and ensure its smooth operation.

Wife: That sounds reasonable. Our pottery business has been our livelihood, and we should ensure its continued success. We can also use our position to support local artisans and promote their work.

Potter: Absolutely. We have the opportunity to make a positive impact on our country and our community. Let's use our influence to improve the lives of our people.

Wife: Together, we can balance our responsibilities as the General of the Army and our commitment to our pottery business and community. With determination and careful planning, we can navigate this new chapter in our lives successfully.

Monday,

14th December, 2019.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today marks a significant turning point in my life. I have made the difficult decision to return to my place of work. Leaving behind my beloved wife fills my heart with a mixture of weariness and sadness. The burden of responsibilities and debt has forced me to take this step, despite my unwillingness. As I prepare for the journey, I am faced with the challenge of carrying a trunk in our rocky terrain. My father, in his wisdom, has volunteered to accompany me and bear the burden. Although grateful for his selflessness, I can't help but feel conflicted. This decision weighs heavily on my mind as I bid farewell to my loved ones.

-        Narrator

40. The narrator might have felt guilty after reaching the place of work. He might have regretted for making his father carry the luggage. Now, write a possible diary entry of the narrator on the day.

Monday,

14th December, 2019.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today, I feel really bad. When I got to my workplace, I realized I made a big mistake. I shouldn't have let my father carry my luggage. It was selfish and wrong of me. I feel guilty and sorry. From now on, I promise to be a better son and take care of my father. I won't let pride or what others think get in the way. I want to make things right and show my father the love and respect he deserves.

-        Narrator

41. On the day the narrator leaving for his place of work, he found none to carry his luggage to the bus stop. Finally, his father came forward to carry it. Now, write a possible conversation among the narrator, his father, his mother, and his wife discussing to find the one to carry the luggage.

Narrator: (frustrated) I can't believe it! We can't find anyone to help carry my luggage to the bus stop. What are we going to do?

Father: (concerned) Don't worry, son. We'll figure something out. Maybe someone will come along soon.

Mother: (worried) This is a problem. We can't leave you to carry that heavy trunk all by yourself.

Wife: (anxiously) Is there no one in the village who can lend a hand? Maybe we should ask around again.

Narrator: (sighs) I've already asked, but most of the villagers are busy in the fields. They don't have time to spare for me.

Father: (thoughtful) We can't wait for someone else to help. I have an idea. What if I carry the trunk to the bus stop myself?

Narrator: (shocked) Father, no! You shouldn't have to do that. It's too heavy, and you've already done so much for me.

Mother: (supportive) Your father is right. If he is willing to take on the burden, let him. We'll find a way to manage.

Wife: (concerned) But it's not fair to you, father. You've worked so hard all your life. Let us find another solution.

Father: (determined) My son, your responsibilities are important. I want to support you in any way I can. It's my duty as your father.

Narrator: (grateful) Father, I understand your intentions, but it pains me to see you carrying such a heavy load. I should be the one carrying it, not you.

Mother: (firmly) Sometimes, sacrifices need to be made. Your father's strength and love for you will guide him through. Let him do this for you.

Wife: (teary-eyed) Your father's love knows no bounds. We should respect his decision and be thankful for his support.

Narrator: (accepting) I see your point. Father, if you insist on carrying the trunk, I am grateful for your selflessness. I promise to make it up to you somehow.

Father: (smiling) No need for promises, son. Seeing you succeed and knowing I've helped in my own way is enough for me.

42. At the end of the story the narrator went to his place of work in a bus seating in a luxurious seat and his father walking back on the pebble strewn road but with little contentment for the shoes and his son. What might be the inner feelings of his father while he was returning home.

As I walk back home on this pebble-strewn road, my weary legs and tired body ache with each step. The journey has been long and challenging, but my heart holds a flicker of contentment amidst the exhaustion.

I may not have been seated in a luxurious bus, but I find solace in the knowledge that my son is. Seeing him embark on this path, fulfilling his dreams and aspirations, fills me with an indescribable pride. The exchange of shoes, a simple gesture, holds a deeper meaning between us—a symbol of our love and connection.

Yes, the road ahead is difficult, but I carry with me the memories of our journey together. The image of him, seated comfortably, is etched in my mind, a testament to my role as a father. Despite the physical strain, I find purpose and fulfilment in fulfilling my responsibilities.

In this moment, as I trudge along, I embrace the tiredness and the weight upon my shoulders. It is a reminder of the sacrifices made, the support offered, and the love that binds us. Though my steps may falter, my heart remains steadfast, filled with a father's unwavering devotion.

As I return home, I carry with me the knowledge that I have played my part, that my son is well on his way. It is a bittersweet feeling, knowing that he no longer needs my physical support. Yet, I am grateful for the role I have played and the small contentment found in our shared journey.

So, I walk on, guided by love and the memories we have created. Though the world may not see my weariness, it matters not. For in my heart, I hold a father's love, and that is enough to carry me home.

43. After reaching the destination the narrator might have felt guilty over making his father carry the luggage to the bus stop. He might have felt that being young and having strength he might have carried his own luggage. He might have felt very sad for his father. Now, write the feelings of the narrator.

As I sit in the cozy bus seat, a heavy feeling of guilt engulfs me. I can't help but feel sorry for making my father carry my heavy luggage. I'm young and strong, and I should have shouldered the responsibility myself. It saddens me deeply to think of my father, tired and older, carrying that weight.

I regret not realizing earlier how my education and pride have made me forget the value of physical work. I was too worried about what others would think, and it blinded me from being a dutiful son.

Now, as the bus moves farther away, I feel a longing to make things right. I promise myself that I will be a better son, showing my father love and care. I want to apologize and make him happy.

My heart feels heavy, knowing the sacrifices my father made and the love he has for me. I hope that one day, I can make it up to him and bring him the happiness he deserves.

44. Convert the one act play, Never Never Nest, into a story.

NEVER NEVER NEST

Once upon a time, there was a couple named Jack and Jill who lived in a beautiful villa in New Hampstead. Their cozy little lounge was filled with pretty furniture, including a radiogram, a car, a piano, and more.

One day, Aunt Jane came to visit and marvelled at their lovely home. She couldn't help but wonder how they managed to afford it all. Aunt Jane was a firm believer in paying cash and avoiding debts.

Curiosity gnawed at Aunt Jane's mind, and she asked about the cost of rent. To her surprise, Jack and Jill revealed that they owned the house. They had taken advantage of a special offer and only paid ten pounds to become homeowners.

Amazed by their resourcefulness, Aunt Jane inquired about their other possessions. She discovered that they only owned parts of the car, like the steering wheel, one tire, and two cylinders. They had acquired the radio, piano, and furniture through installment payments.

Aunt Jane grew concerned about their financial stability. Jack reassured her, explaining that they borrowed money from a trusted institution and repaid it in instalments. He proudly shared that his income had increased over time and they were managing their debts well.

Although Aunt Jane was still apprehensive, she understood their reasoning. However, she couldn't resist making a gesture of support. She handed Jill a cheque for ten pounds, urging her to use it to pay off a bill and truly own something outright.

As Aunt Jane bid her farewell and left for home, Jill looked at the cheque with gratitude. Determined to follow Aunt Jane's advice, she quickly wrote an envelope, sealed it with the cheque and a bill, and asked the nurse to post it.

Meanwhile, Jack returned to the room, excited about the unexpected funds. However, Jill confessed that she had already sent the money to Dr. Martin. Jack was initially puzzled, but then Jill explained that the payment would bring them closer to fully owning the car, including the joy of their baby's presence in their lives.

Jack's eyes filled with understanding and love. They held their baby close, knowing that despite the debts and instalments, they were building a future filled with dreams and aspirations.

And so, the couple continued their journey, cherishing the little victories along the way, and remaining grateful for the support and love they received from Aunt Jane and each other.

45. Write a diary entry of Jill at the end of the play. She may be thankful to Aunt Jane for understanding them and presenting a cheque again. Happy for at least owned her baby.

Monday,

14th January, 2019.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

What an eventful day it has been! Aunt Jane's visit brought a mix of emotions, but in the end, I am filled with gratitude and contentment. She understood us, and her generous cheque was a true blessing. Aunt Jane's support means the world to us.

I can't help but feel a sense of joy as I hold our precious baby in my arms. Despite the debts and installments, we have something truly ours—our beautiful child. That alone fills my heart with immense happiness and makes every struggle worth it.

Today has taught me the importance of family and the love that binds us together. We may not have everything figured out, but we have each other, and that is enough. I am determined to keep working hard and building a better future for our little family.

Thank you, Aunt Jane, for your understanding, your generosity, and your belief in us. We will always cherish your support and strive to make you proud.

-        Jill

46. Write a diary entry of Aunt Jane at the end of the play. She was unhappy for the way Jack and Jill live.

Monday,

14th January, 2019.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today's visit to Jack and Jill's home left me unsettled. Their extravagant lifestyle and overwhelming debts troubled me deeply. It saddened me to see them living beyond their means.

I couldn't help but offer some financial assistance, hoping to steer them towards a more responsible path. Although they seemed grateful, I fear they may not fully comprehend the importance of financial stability.

I pray that they realize the value of living within their means and take steps to secure a more secure future for themselves and their precious baby.

-        Aunt Jane

47. Jill might have felt guilt about the way they live after the visit of Aunt Jane. Now write her regretful feelings about their way of life and thankful feelings to Aunt Jane.

You know, after Aunt Jane came to visit us, I couldn't help but feel guilty about the way we live. It made me realize that we're always chasing after things, thinking they'll bring us happiness, but they never really do. Aunt Jane, on the other hand, is different. She's so calm and appreciates the small joys in life.

I can't help but regret our lifestyle. Always wanting more, always thinking we need the latest stuff. It's exhausting, and it's not making us any happier. Aunt Jane's visit showed me that true happiness comes from love, connections, and finding contentment in what we already have.

I'm so thankful to Aunt Jane for opening my eyes. She made me see the mistakes we've been making. Now I want to make changes and find joy in the simpler things. Aunt Jane, thank you for guiding me and reminding me of what truly matters in life.

48. Write the feelings of Aunt Jane after visiting Jack and Jill. (Description)

(Sighs) Oh, Jack and Jill, my heart aches for you. Your way of life, it's just not right. I came to visit hoping to see carefulness and responsibility, but instead, I found debts and reckless spending.

I can't help but feel disappointed and worried. You've forgotten the value of money, the importance of living within your means. But there's a glimmer of hope. I see your love for each other and your baby, and that's why I gave you the cheque. I wanted to show you a better path.

Jill, when I saw the guilt in your eyes and your gratitude, my heart softened. I hope my words made a difference. I want you to understand there's a better way to live, without debts and borrowed luxuries.

So, as I think back on my visit, I feel both disappointment and hope. I pray you'll take this chance to change, to be more responsible. I didn't mean to scold you, only to guide you.

Dear Jack and Jill, I wish you the best. May you find the strength to overcome your challenges and create a secure future for your little one.

Roberge: Oh no, that's troubling. Do you have any idea who might have taken it?

Ray: I have a strong suspicion. But I've decided not to take any action. I don't want to harm that person's reputation.

52. Write a diary entry of Roberge on the day he met Ray on his deathbed in hospital.

Monday,

14th January, 1972.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today was a dark day as I visited Satyajit Ray, my dear friend, on his deathbed. Seeing him so weak and frail broke my heart. We shared our final moments together, expressing gratitude for our lasting friendship. Satyajit's wisdom and artistry have profoundly impacted my life. His films will continue to inspire generations. I cherish our bond and will carry his legacy in my heart forever.

-        Gaston

53. Write an imaginary interview with Roberge about their friendship as if you were a journalist.

Journalist: Hello, Gaston! Thank you for taking the time to speak with us. We're interested in learning more about your friendship with Satyajit Ray. Can you tell us how your friendship began?

Gaston: Certainly! It all started when I was a young priest traveling to India in 1961. During a stopover in New York, I discovered Satyajit Ray's films, particularly the Apu Trilogy, and I was captivated by them. They sparked my love for Indian culture and Bengali cinema. It took me some time, but eventually, I mustered up the courage to meet Ray in person after I arrived in Kolkata. That's when our friendship began.

Journalist: How would you describe your friendship with Ray?

Gaston: Our friendship was special and lasted for 22 years until his passing in 1992. It was a quiet friendship that developed over time. Ray was a shy and humble person, but we had a strong bond. We would meet every Sunday at his home in Kolkata, where he would invite me to private screenings of his latest films. We had meaningful conversations about cinema and other subjects. Ray's stature may have seemed intimidating to others, but he was a simple and unassuming man with a subtle sense of humor.

Journalist: What did you admire most about Ray?

Gaston: There were many things I admired about Ray. His talent as a director was undeniable, but what struck me most was his genuine concern for others and his compassionate nature. He was considerate of people's reputations and didn't want to cause unnecessary harm. Despite his fame, he remained down-to-earth and approachable. Ray had a profound impact on Indian cinema and culture, and I respected him not only as an artist but also as a person.

Journalist: How did your friendship influence your work together?

Gaston: Our friendship led to significant collaborations. I founded Chitrabani, a communication and film institute in West Bengal, and Ray, as a gesture of friendship, lent his name as a co-founder. He served on the governing body and later became an advisor. Our shared passion for cinema and culture inspired us to work together, and Chitrabani became a breeding ground for local talent in filmmaking. Ray's support and guidance were invaluable.

Journalist: Thank you, Gaston, for sharing your insights into your friendship with Satyajit Ray. It's clear that your bond was not only based on shared interests but also on a deep mutual respect and admiration.

Gaston: You're welcome. It was a privilege to know Satyajit Ray and to have such a meaningful friendship with him. He was a remarkable individual, and I'm grateful for the time we spent together.

54. Describe the feelings of Satyajit Ray on the day he lost his manuscript Charulatha.

On the day I realized that my manuscript for Charulata was gone, I felt really upset and disappointed. It was like a big wave of sadness washed over me. I couldn't believe that someone had taken my work without asking me. I wondered why someone would do such a thing and felt confused and hurt.

But instead of getting angry or trying to punish the person, I decided to understand and forgive. I didn't want to harm their reputation or make things worse. It was a hard decision, but I believed that being kind and caring was more important than worrying about what was lost.

Even though losing the manuscript made me sad, I knew that I could still create and tell the story of Charulata in a different way. The words may be gone, but the story lived inside me. I knew that I could use my imagination and passion to recreate it.

I learned that things can come and go, but what really matters is the love and connection we have with others. Losing the manuscript reminded me of that. I chose to focus on the creativity in my heart rather than the paper that was lost.

In the end, I found comfort in knowing that my creativity and storytelling would continue, no matter what happened.

55. Now, write an imaginary interview as if you were a journalist with K. V. Reddy over the success of Maya Bazaar movie.

Journalist: Good day, Mr. Reddy. Congratulations on the immense success of your film, "Maya Bazaar." How does it feel to have your film voted as the 'Greatest Indian Film' in the recent online poll?

K. V. Reddy: Thank you. It's truly an honor to have "Maya Bazaar" recognized as the 'Greatest Indian Film.' I feel overwhelmed with joy and gratitude for the audience's love and appreciation. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication put in by the entire team.

Journalist: What do you think made "Maya Bazaar" stand out among other Indian classics?

K. V. Reddy: I believe the film's success lies in its ability to capture the essence of Telugu culture and connect with the audience on a personal level. We aimed to create a cinematic experience that resonated with people's lives and showcased the beauty of our language and customs.

Journalist: The film is praised for its technical aspects, such as cinematography, music, and art direction. How did you manage to bring all these elements together so effectively?

K. V. Reddy: It was indeed a collaborative effort, and I was fortunate to work with immensely talented individuals in various departments. Marcus Bartley's cinematography, Ghantasala's music, and Gokhale's art direction elevated the film's visual appeal. Their creativity and passion brought the story to life, creating a magical world on screen.

Journalist: The dialogues and lyrics of "Maya Bazaar" became popular and embedded in the Telugu culture. How did you ensure that they resonated with the audience?

K. V. Reddy: We wanted the dialogues and lyrics to reflect the language spoken by the people in their everyday lives. Pingali Nagendra Rao, our writer, understood the pulse of the audience and crafted dialogues that were relatable and meaningful. The songs became cherished melodies that are still sung and celebrated today.

Journalist: Looking back, what do you think contributed most to the enduring legacy of "Maya Bazaar"?

K. V. Reddy: I believe the film's enduring legacy is rooted in its ability to touch people's hearts. By portraying flawed yet relatable characters and infusing the Yadava household with Telugu nuances, we created a world that felt familiar to the audience. It became a story that transcended time and continues to be cherished by generations.

Journalist: Thank you for your time, Mr. Reddy. Once again, congratulations on the remarkable success of "Maya Bazaar."

K. V. Reddy: Thank you. It was a pleasure to share my thoughts. I am grateful for the love and support "Maya Bazaar" has received over the years.

UNIT – 5 POSSIBLE DISCOURSES

60. Bayaji got down the bus and started to walk to his home. He met with Kondiba. Bayaji just greeted him. Kondiba felt humiliated. Now, write a possible conversation between Bayaji and Bhujaba Patil.

Bayaji: Greetings to you, sir. How are things with you?

Bhujaba: (angrily) Do you think you can become a Brahmin just by saying "Greetings"? Can you forget your position because you've turned a Buddhist?

Bayaji: (surprised) Sir, why bring this up before I even set foot on the soil of my forefathers? I have to stay here for the rest of my life.

Bhujaba: Aren't you going back to your job?

Bayaji: No, sir, my service is over. I've turned sixty.

Bhujaba: Have you collected your fund amount?

Bayaji: Yes, sir, I have. It's around two and a half thousand rupees.

Bhujaba: You have a heavy load on your head. Go to your house first. We'll talk later.

Bayaji: Okay, yes. I'll go to my house. Thank you.

(They part ways, and Bayaji walks towards his house with his burden)

61. Bayaji came home and discussed about the gift he wanted to present for the family. But initially his children might have thought that he had brought some other gifts like clothes etc. The entire family felt happy for the plan. Now, write a possible conversation among the family members for the decision to build a storeyed house.

Eldest Daughter: Nana, how come you didn't bring anything for us?

Bayaji: Well, my dear, I didn't bring new things for you because they wouldn't last long. They would tear or wear out quickly. But don't worry, I have something special planned for all of you.

Eldest Son: We're curious, Nana. What do you want us to do?

Bayaji: My children, our family is growing, and we need more space. We often have to take turns during meals, and it's crowded and uncomfortable. So, I thought of using my earnings to build a bigger house for all of us. It will be a multi-story house, spacious enough for everyone.

Younger

Daughter: That sounds wonderful, Nana! We would love to have a bigger house. When can we start?

Bayaji: I'm glad you all like the idea. We can start right away. Today is the auspicious New Year Day, and it's a perfect time to lay the foundation of our new house.

Eldest Son's Wife: Nana, how big do you want the house to be?

Bayaji: I want it to be a grand house, my dear. It should have enough rooms for each family, a kitchen, a common area, and even a backyard. We'll have more space to live comfortably and create beautiful memories together.

Younger Son: Nana, can I help with the construction?

Bayaji: Of course, my son! Your help will be valuable. We'll work together as a family to build our dream house.

Eldest Daughter-in-law: Nana, what about the design of the house?

Bayaji: We'll consult an architect and share our requirements. We want the house to be functional, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing. We'll consider everyone's suggestions and create a home that reflects our unity and love.

Younger Daughter-in-law: Nana, I'm so excited! I can't wait to have more space for our children to play and grow.

Bayaji: That's the spirit, my dear! Our new house will be a haven for our entire family. We'll create a warm and welcoming environment for everyone.

Eldest Daughter: Nana, can we help in any way?

Bayaji: Yes, my dear. You can help with small tasks like organizing materials or even deciding on the colors of the walls. Your involvement will make it even more special.

Everyone in the family eagerly joined hands, determined to build a beautiful and spacious house that would become a symbol of their unity and love.

62. Write a possible conversation between Kondiba and Bayaji when they met and discussed over the storeyed house.

Bayaji: Good day, Kondiba. I seek your blessings as I start building this storeyed house.

Kondiba: Bayaji, don't let money make you forget your place. The poor should be happy with their small cottages, you know?

Bayaji: Please, Kondiba, don't misunderstand me.

Kondiba: You need to remember your position. Money shouldn't change that.

Bayaji: I just want a home for my family, where we can live peacefully.

Kondiba: You can have a smaller house with three rooms, front and back verandas, and a central living area. Why spend more on a storeyed house?

Bayaji: But...

Kondiba: If you insist on a storeyed house, maybe it's better for you to leave the village. Do you understand?

Other Villagers: Listen to Kondiba, Bayaji. Don't forget where you belong!

Bayaji: I feel the pressure from Kondiba's warning and the villagers' threats. Building a storeyed house will only bring more trouble and put my place in the village at risk.

63. Write the possible conversation among the guests attended the funeral programme and sons of Bayaji.

Guest: Why are you working on building a house when you should be mourning?

Bayaji's Eldest Son: We believe that our father's soul won't find peace unless we fulfill his dream.

Guest: What was his dream?

Bayaji's Eldest Son: He wanted to build a proper two-storeyed house for our family.

Guest: But isn't it too soon after his passing?

Bayaji's Eldest Son: We think it's the best way to honor his memory and fulfill his wishes.

Guest: Shouldn't you take some time to grieve?

Bayaji's Eldest Son: Working on this house is our way of finding solace and carrying forward his legacy.

Guest: It's impressive to see your determination. How do you plan to manage the construction?

Bayaji's Eldest Son: We have divided the tasks among us. I'm digging the foundation, my brother is gathering the earth, and others are removing it in baskets.

Guest: That's quite a teamwork. Are you confident about building a two-storeyed house?

Bayaji's Eldest Son: We will give our best. We have learned from our father and are determined to make his dream come true.

Guest: It's admirable that you're continuing his vision. Do you have the necessary resources?

Bayaji's Eldest Son: We have gathered what we can, and we'll work hard to arrange for the rest.

Dear Diary,

Today was a significant day for me. As I arrived home, memories flooded my mind. I met Kondiba, and though our encounter was brief, it left me feeling humiliated. But I realized the importance of peace in my village. I've decided to build a storeyed house, a dream for my family's comfort. I hope it will be a lasting symbol of my hard work and dedication. Excitement fills my heart as I embark on this new journey.

Friday,

27th July, 1979.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today was an extraordinary day. I interviewed Wangari Maathai, the environmental activist and Nobel Prize winner. Her passion and fight for the environment left a lasting impression. Her words resonated deeply. I realized the power we hold to create change. Maathai's journey of restoring the environment and empowering communities inspired me. Small steps, like planting trees, can make a difference. I'll share her message and inspire others. Today was a turning point. It ignited a fire within me to become an advocate for the environment. I'm grateful for this experience and the impact it had on me.

68. Write a possible conversation among Agonyo, Sunday nana, and other villagers.

Agonyo: (Gathering the villagers) Friends, I have something important to share with all of you. Please gather around.

Sunday Nana: (Curious) Agonyo, what's going on? Why have you called this meeting?

Agonyo: I recently discovered something alarming about those drums in our village. They contain poisonous chemicals, and they have been here for years!

Villager 1: (Concerned) Poisonous chemicals? How is that possible? What are the risks?

Agonyo: The chemicals in those drums have been leaking into the ground and our water source. They are causing sickness and even deaths in our community. We need to take action.

Sunday Nana: (Worried) Agonyo, have you informed the authorities about this? What can we do?

Agonyo: I have reached out to the government, but they haven't responded. We can't wait for them anymore. We need to come together and find a solution ourselves.

Villager 2: (Determined) Agonyo is right! We can't let our children and families suffer any longer. What can we do?

Agonyo: First, we must raise awareness among neighbouring villages and seek support. We can write letters, create petitions, and spread the word about the health hazards we're facing.

Villager 3: (Suggesting) We should also gather evidence of the impact on our health and the environment. It will strengthen our case and grab attention.

Sunday Nana: (Nodding) We need to document everything - the illnesses, the deaths, the contamination. It's our duty to protect our community.

Agonyo: Absolutely, Sunday. We'll compile all the evidence and reach out to environmental organizations, media outlets, and even international bodies if necessary. We can't let this go unnoticed any longer.

Villager 1: (Inspired) Agonyo, Sunday, count us in! We'll support you in this fight for justice and a safe environment for our families.

Agonyo: Thank you, everyone. Together, we have the power to make a difference. Let's unite, raise our voices, and demand action until those drums are removed and our village is safe again.

69. Describe the feelings of Agonyo when he found the drums poisonous.

When Agonyo found out that the drums in our village were poisonous, he felt a jumble of different feelings. He was confused, not understanding how this could happen and how long it had been going on. It made him angry too. He was mad at the people who brought these dangerous drums here without telling anyone, and at the government for not doing anything to help us. But most of all, he was scared. He worried about the health of everyone in the village, especially the kids. The responsibility to protect his community weighed heavily on him, but it also made him determined to take action. Agonyo's discovery lit a fire inside him, pushing him to fight for justice and make our village safer. He carried the hopes and fears of the people with him as he worked tirelessly for a better future.

70. Write the conversation between Natasha and the narrator.

Narrator: Excuse me, are you Natasha?

Natasha: Yes, that's me. Can I help you?

Narrator: I've heard about the tragic events that occurred in this village. I can't imagine what you and the people here have been through.

Natasha: It's been a nightmare. I still remember that fateful day when the Chernobyl reactor exploded. Everything changed after that. Our lives turned upside down.

Narrator: I can see the pain in your eyes. How did you and the other villagers cope with the aftermath?

Natasha: It was chaos and confusion at first. We didn't fully understand the extent of the danger. Children played in the contaminated dust, not knowing the harm it would cause. The consequences unfolded slowly but mercilessly. Sickness, suffering, and loss became our daily reality.

Narrator: I can't begin to comprehend the magnitude of the tragedy. How did the authorities respond?

Natasha: It took them a while to acknowledge the severity of the situation. By the time they warned us to stay indoors and avoid the radioactive dust, it was too late for many. The damage had already been done, and we witnessed the devastating effects on our children.

Narrator: I'm truly sorry for your losses. This place feels abandoned now. What are your hopes for the future?

Natasha: It's difficult to hold onto hope, but I want the world to remember what happened here. I want people to understand the consequences of nuclear disasters. Our suffering should serve as a reminder to prioritize safety and prevent such tragedies from recurring.

Narrator: Your resilience and determination are admirable. Thank you for sharing your story with me.

Natasha: Thank you for listening. It's important for others to know what happened here, so that we may find strength in unity and work towards a safer world.

UNIT – 7 POSSIBLE DISCOURSES

71. Write possible conversation between Iyer and Kalam on the day he went for the dinner first time.

Iyer: Kalam, I'm glad you came for dinner today. I wanted to show you that even though we are different, we can still eat together.

Kalam: Thank you, sir. I was a little unsure at first because of our traditions and expectations.

Iyer: I understand why you felt that way, Kalam. Our society has divisions, but I believe in breaking those barriers and making people understand each other. We need to challenge the rules that create unnecessary differences.

Kalam: I agree, sir. It's great to see someone like you who goes against what most people do and includes everyone. I hope more people will do the same.

Iyer: Change starts with people like us, Kalam. By going against what everyone expects, we can make things better. We need to understand that our differences shouldn't separate us or affect our relationships.

Kalam: Exactly, sir. Our differences should be celebrated, not used to treat people badly. If we understand and accept each other, we can have a stronger and happier community.

Iyer: That's what I want to show you, Kalam. By having dinner together, we're showing that we can get along even if we're different. I hope this experience stays with you and encourages you to do the same.

Kalam: It definitely will, sir. Tonight, has taught me how important it is to challenge the rules and include everyone. I'm grateful for your kindness and the important lessons I've learned.

Iyer: It's my pleasure, Kalam. Remember, as you go on in life, always be kind, understanding, and open-minded. These qualities will make a big difference to you and those around you.

Kalam: I will, sir. Thank you for being someone I can look up to and for teaching me these important lessons. I'm honoured to have had dinner with you.

Iyer: The honour is mine, Kalam. I believe you can make a positive impact on society. Remember, change starts with people who challenge the rules. Go out there and be that change.

Kalam: I will, sir. Thank you for your help and support. I'll always remember what you've taught me.

Iyer: Kalam, I'm glad you came for dinner again. It shows you're brave and determined to break down barriers.

Kalam: Thank you, sir. Our last dinner together was special, and it made me realize how important it is to accept and understand each other.

72. Write possible conversation between Iyer and Kalam on the day he went for the dinner second time.

Iyer: I'm happy to hear that, Kalam. Our actions can inspire others to challenge the way things are and promote togetherness. By eating together, we're setting a good example.

Kalam: Definitely, sir. I believe that even small acts like sharing meals can make a positive difference. We should show that we can eat together no matter our backgrounds.

Iyer: Absolutely, Kalam. The more we appreciate and respect our differences, the stronger and kinder our society becomes. It's about celebrating diversity.

Kalam: I agree, sir. Our differences shouldn't divide us but give us a chance to learn and grow. If we open our hearts and minds, we can gain so much from each other.

Iyer: That's the spirit, Kalam. It's not always easy to challenge traditions, but it's necessary to create a better world where everyone belongs.

Kalam: I've learned that, sir. These experiences are teaching me so much. I'm grateful for the chance to learn from you.

Iyer: I feel the same way, Kalam. You're a smart young person with great potential. I believe you'll take these lessons and make a positive impact.

Kalam: Thank you for your support, sir. I'll try my best to be a force for change and bring people together.

Iyer: I have no doubt about that, Kalam. Remember, even small actions can have a big impact. Let's continue to promote acceptance and understanding.

Kalam: I will, sir. Together, we can inspire others and create a society where everyone is valued and respected.

Iyer: Absolutely, Kalam. Let's keep challenging the norms and fostering a culture of acceptance. Thank you for being part of this journey, and I look forward to our future work together.

Kalam: Thank you, sir. Your guidance means a lot to me. I'm honored to be part of this important mission.

73.  between Iyer and his wife after Kalam left their house for the first time he came for dinner.

Iyer: Honey, I want to talk about tonight's dinner with Kalam.

Wife: Oh, yes. I was worried about having a Muslim boy in our kitchen. It's not something we're used to.

Iyer: I understand, but we invited him as our guest. We shouldn't let our beliefs stop us from being kind and accepting.

Wife: I know, but our traditions are deeply ingrained. It's hard to change.

Iyer: I appreciate your honesty. Change is tough, but it's important. Kalam is a smart boy, and we can bring communities closer.

Wife: I guess you're right, but I'm concerned about what others will think.

Iyer: We shouldn't fear judgment. Let's follow our values of kindness and inclusion. We can set an example.

Wife: I see your point. I'll try to be more open-minded.

Iyer: Thank you, dear. Our small act can inspire others to let go of prejudice.

Wife: I hope so. I want our home to be welcoming to all.

Iyer: That's great. Together, we can make a difference and foster understanding.

Wife: Yes, let's do it for a better future. I'm glad we talked.

Iyer: Me too. Thank you for being open to change. We're on this journey together.

74. Write possible conversation among Laxmana Sastry, new teacher, Kalam and Ramanadha Sastry on the school incident.

Laxmana Sastry: Good afternoon, sir. I believe there was an incident involving my son, Ramanadha, and Kalam here.

New Teacher: Yes, Mr. Sastry. I asked Kalam to move to the back bench because of his religious background.

Kalam: But sir, I always sat with Ramanadha, and it never caused any problems before.

Ramanadha Sastry: That's right, sir. Kalam and I have been friends since childhood. We don't see any differences based on religion.

Laxmana Sastry: It deeply concerns me that you would segregate students based on their faith. Education should be inclusive, promoting unity among all.

New Teacher: I apologize for my actions. It was a mistake on my part. I realize now that I should not have let personal biases affect my teaching.

Kalam: We just want to be treated equally, regardless of our backgrounds. We can all learn together and respect each other's beliefs.

Ramanadha Sastry: Our friendship is based on mutual understanding and respect. We should foster such values in our school.

Laxmana Sastry: I expect all students to be treated fairly and without discrimination. Education should empower young minds and break down barriers, not reinforce them.

New Teacher: I understand the importance of fostering inclusivity and unity among students. I promise to rectify my mistake and create an environment where everyone feels respected and valued.

Kalam: Thank you, Mr. Sastry, for standing up for us and addressing this issue. We believe in the power of education to bring people together.

Ramanadha Sastry: We should focus on building bridges and promoting harmony among all students. Let's move forward with understanding and acceptance.

Laxmana Sastry: That's the spirit. Let us work together to create a school environment where every child feels welcome and cherished.

75. Write possible conversation among Kalam, his father and mother over his higher education.

Kalam: Father, Mother, I need to talk to you about something important.

Father: Of course, Kalam. We're here to listen. What's on your mind?

Mother: Yes, dear. You know we always want the best for you. What's troubling you?

Kalam: Well, I've been thinking about my future and my education. I believe it's time for me to leave Rameswaram and study in Ramanathapuram.

Father: Leave Rameswaram? But why, my son? It's our home, and we've always been here together.

Kalam: I understand, Father, but I believe studying in Ramanathapuram will provide me with more opportunities and a better education. I want to contribute to our nation's progress and make a difference.

Mother: (hesitant) But, Kalam, it's so far away. We'll miss you terribly. What if something goes wrong?

Father: (comforting) Ashiamma, our son has dreams and ambitions. We must support him in his pursuit of knowledge and growth. Ramanathapuram may be a distance from us, but it's a chance for Kalam to explore his potential.

Kalam: Mother, I understand your concerns, and I'll miss you too. But this is an important step for my future. I promise to stay focused, work hard, and make you proud.

Mother: (teary-eyed) Oh, Kalam, you've always been a responsible and determined child. I worry because I love you so much. But if this is your path, I trust your judgment.

Father: That's the spirit, Ashiamma. Kalam has shown great maturity in his decision. We must have faith in him and support him every step of the way.

Kalam: Thank you, Father. Thank you, Mother. Your love and trust mean everything to me. I'll make the most of this opportunity and ensure that our family's sacrifices are not in vain.

Mother: (smiling through tears) Alright, my dear. We believe in you. Pursue your dreams and make a positive impact on the world. We'll be here, praying for your success and waiting for you to come back home.

Father: Kalam, remember that no matter where you go, you'll always have our support and love. Work hard, stay focused, and never forget your roots. We're proud of you, son.

Kalam: Thank you, Father. Thank you, Mother. I promise to make the most of this chance and bring honor to our family. With your blessings, I'll strive to achieve greatness and fulfill my dreams.

76. Describe the feelings of Kalam on the day he went to Iyer's home for dinner.

On the day I went to Iyer's house for dinner, I had mixed feelings. I was both excited and a little nervous. I wondered how I would be treated and if I would fit in.

When I entered their house, I was greeted with warm smiles and delicious aromas from the kitchen. But when Iyer's wife saw me, she hesitated. She didn't want to serve me in her ritually pure kitchen because of my different background.

At first, I felt a bit disappointed and unsure. I thought maybe I didn't belong or that I had done something wrong. But Iyer, being the kind and understanding person he was, stepped in and took charge.

He reassured his wife and told her that it was important to break barriers and treat everyone equally. He served me with his own hands and sat beside me to eat his meal. Iyer's wife watched from behind the kitchen door.

In that moment, I felt a mixture of gratitude and relief. I was grateful for Iyer's support and acceptance. It made me realize that there are people who are willing to stand up for what is right and challenge societal norms.

Leaving their house that night, I felt a sense of determination. I wanted to prove that I deserved respect and acceptance, regardless of my background. It fueled my motivation to work hard and make a positive difference in the world.

That experience taught me the importance of standing up against discrimination and embracing diversity. It showed me that change begins with individuals who are willing to challenge the status quo and treat others with kindness and understanding.

77. Write a possible conversation among Iyer, Iyer's wife and Kalam on Kalam's second visit to their house for dinner.

Iyer: Welcome back, Kalam! We're so glad you could join us for dinner again. Please make yourself comfortable.

Kalam: Thank you, Mr. Iyer. I'm really grateful for your invitation. I had a wonderful time the last time I was here.

Iyer's Wife: Yes, Kalam, we're happy to have you here. I hope you enjoyed the meal last time.

Kalam: Absolutely! Your food is delicious, and I felt so welcomed in your home. I'm really grateful for your hospitality.

Iyer: We're delighted to hear that, Kalam. You know, we believe in breaking down barriers and embracing people from all walks of life. We consider you part of our extended family now.

Iyer's Wife: I must admit, Kalam, I was hesitant during your first visit. But after spending time with you and seeing your genuine spirit, I realized that it doesn't matter where we come from or what our rituals are. What matters is the kindness and respect we show one another.

Kalam: I completely understand, and I appreciate your honesty. It means a lot to me that you've opened your hearts and home to me. I want you to know that I hold no judgment and I'm grateful for your acceptance.

Iyer: Kalam, we firmly believe in treating everyone equally and with love. It's our way of making a positive change in society. And your presence here is a testament to that belief.

Kalam: I'm inspired by your values, Mr. Iyer. Your kindness and inclusiveness have taught me so much. I aspire to be like you and make a difference in the world.

Iyer's Wife: Kalam, dear, we are proud to have you here. You are a remarkable young person, and we believe in your potential to achieve great things. Please know that you always have our support.

Kalam: Thank you, both of you. Your words mean the world to me. I'm truly grateful for your faith in me. I will work hard to live up to your expectations and make a positive impact in my own way.

UNIT – 8 POSSIBLE DISCOURSES

78. Write a possible conversation between the author and children’s father on the second day observation of the narrator.

Narrator: Excuse me, sir. I couldn't help but notice your curiosity. I believe you might be thinking whether the black race will eventually rise and rule the world, based on what you witnessed with the little dark youngster ordering the white boy around. Allow me to clear up any misconceptions. It's actually just a game they play. On alternate days, one of them takes on the role of the boss, while the other becomes the servant. It's a playful way for them to explore different roles and responsibilities. I used to engage in similar games when I was young, and perhaps you did too. It's all innocent fun.

Father: (Surprised) Oh, I see. You've certainly caught me off guard with your observation. But thank you for explaining. Actually, those boys are my sons. They're brothers.

Narrator: (Smiling) That's wonderful to hear! It brings me great joy to witness such a bond between them. And the lady on the veranda, I assume she's your wife?

Father: Yes, indeed. That's my wife, and we are a proud family. Our children bring us much happiness.

Narrator: (Feeling a sense of belonging) I'm delighted to have had this conversation with you. It has reminded me of the unity and understanding that can be found within our diverse community. This is Jamaica, and these are my people.

Father: (Smiling) Absolutely! Our country is a beautiful melting pot of cultures and experiences. It's heartening to see our shared humanity shining through.

Narrator: (Reflecting) It's moments like these that reinforce my pride and love for this country. Thank you for sharing this enlightening experience with me. I won't keep you any longer, though. We should hurry if we don't want to miss the tram.

Father: (Agreeing) You're right. Let's not miss our ride. Thank you for the conversation, and have a wonderful day ahead.

79. Write possible conversation between housewife and her husband when she forgot her name and asked him to recall.

Housewife: (frustrated) Now a neighbour came to invite me to a Kumkum ceremony. I asked her, hoping she would remember my name. But she just giggled and said she never asked or I never told her. She referred to me as "the pharmaceutical company manager's wife" or "that fair and tall lady." That's all she could say!

Housewife's Husband: (during the night meal) Look here, I have forgotten my name. If you remember it, will you please tell me?

Husband: (laughing) What is it, dear? It has never happened before. I have always called you "yemoi" since we got married. You never told me to address you differently, and everyone calls you Mrs. Murthy, don't they?

Housewife: (frustrated) Not Mrs. Murthy, I want my own name. What shall I do now?

Husband: It's alright. You are an educated woman. Your name must be on your certificates. Don't you have that much common sense? Go and find out.

Housewife: (frantically searching for certificates) I can't find my certificates anywhere. I never brought them here after marriage. I'll have to go to my place, search for my certificates, and inquire about my name. I'll return in a couple of days.

Husband: (concerned) Must you go just for your name? Who will scrub the house these two days if you leave?

Housewife: (realizing her importance) Yes, that's true. I have been the one doing all the scrubbing, and no one else knows how to do it properly. But still, how can I live without knowing my own name? It has become really difficult.

80. Write possible conversation among housewife and her parents.

Housewife (Sarada): Amma, I've forgotten my name. Can you please tell me what it is?

Sarada's Mother: You're our elder daughter. We gave you education and arranged your marriage. But your name... I can't remember it now.

Sarada: Please, Amma, it's important to me. I need to know my own name.

Sarada's Mother: I'm sorry, child. We recently cleaned out some old papers, and I'm not sure where your certificates are. Let's search for them tomorrow.

Sarada: But Amma, I can't live without knowing my name. I feel lost.

Sarada's Mother: Don't worry, my dear. Take a bath and have your meal for now. We'll find your certificates soon.

(Sarada couldn't sleep that night. She realized how difficult it was to live without knowing her own name.)

Sarada: Amma, I really need to find my name. I'm going to ask everyone I meet.

Sarada's Mother: Yes, dear, try asking people. Maybe someone will remember.

(Sarada searched desperately, asking friends, neighbours, and even places from her past.)

Sarada: I feel hopeless, Amma. Nobody seems to know my name.

Sarada's Mother: Don't give up, my child. Keep searching, and someone will remember.

(Finally, Sarada met an old friend who recognized her.)

Friend: Sarada! It's you! I remember you from school. You were so talented.

Sarada: Oh, thank you! You remembered my name. I had forgotten it completely. I'm so relieved.

Friend: You're welcome, Sarada. I'm glad I could help you remember who you are.

81. Write a possible conversation between Sarada and her friend.

Sarada: Pramila! It's really you! I can't believe we've finally crossed paths.

Pramila: Sarada! Oh my dear Sarada! It's been so long. Look at you, it feels like a lifetime since we last saw each other.

Sarada: I know, Pramila. Life has taken us on such different paths. But I'm so glad to see you. You have no idea how much I needed this moment.

Pramila: You have no idea how much I've missed you, Sarada. We were such good friends, sharing everything together. What happened? Why did you disappear from our lives?

Sarada: Pramila, I got lost. Lost in the responsibilities and routines of being a housewife. All I could think about was scrubbing floors and taking care of my family. I forgot who I was, and even my own name slipped away from me.

Pramila: Oh, Sarada, I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you. But you are so much more than just a housewife. You were brilliant in school, talented in music and art. You were a shining star among us.

Sarada: Hearing you say that brings tears to my eyes, Pramila. I had forgotten all of that. Thank you for reminding me of who I truly am.

Pramila: Sarada, you have to reclaim your identity. You have so much to offer the world. Don't let yourself be defined solely by household chores. You are a remarkable person with dreams and talents.

Sarada: You're right, Pramila. I've neglected myself for too long. It's time for me to rediscover my passions, my talents, and embrace my true self. I won't let my name be forgotten again.

Pramila: That's the spirit, Sarada! I'm here for you, and so are our other friends. We'll support you every step of the way. Let's reconnect and rebuild the bond we once had.

Sarada: I can't thank you enough, Pramila. You've given me a new lease on life. Let's start this journey together, as friends once again.

Pramila: Absolutely, Sarada. We'll make up for lost time and create beautiful memories together. Welcome back, my dear friend.

(Sarada and Pramila embraced each other, feeling the warmth of their friendship rekindling. They knew that this reunion marked the beginning of a new chapter in Sarada's life, one where she would reclaim her identity and embrace her true self once more.)

82. Write a description of feelings of the housewife when she forgot her name and remembered with the help of her childhood friend Prameela.

The moment I forgot my name, a wave of confusion and uncertainty washed over me. It was as if a crucial piece of my being had slipped through my fingers. I felt adrift, disconnected from my own identity. Each interaction became tinged with a sense of unease as I struggled to grasp onto the familiar. The world around me seemed distant, as if I was observing it from behind a veil.

I searched desperately, questioning anyone and anything that crossed my path. I pleaded with trees, anthills, and even the stillness of the pond, hoping for a sign, a glimmer of recognition. But all I received were bewildered gazes and sympathetic shrugs. My name, once so integral to my existence, had become a whispered secret lost in the wind.

Every passing moment deepened my restlessness, fueling a sense of urgency. I yearned to reclaim what was rightfully mine, to anchor myself back into the tapestry of my own life. The weight of not knowing my name pressed upon my chest, reminding me of the sacrifices I had made, the parts of myself I had forgotten.

And then, amidst the chaos, I stumbled upon a familiar face, a friend from long ago. With a single word, my name resurfaced, piercing through the fog of uncertainty. In that moment, I clutched onto it tightly, a lifeline back to myself. It was a bittersweet reunion, a reminder of the person I had once been and the person I had lost sight of.

As I returned home and sifted through the remnants of my past, my certificates and cherished pictures, I felt a surge of gratitude. I had found my name, but more importantly, I had found myself. The experience had taught me the significance of self-identity, the essence of who I am beyond the roles I play. It was a gentle awakening, a reminder to always hold onto my name, for it carries the power to define and anchor me in this vast world.

83. Write an imaginary diary entry of Sarada.

Thursday,

31st May, 2016.

9.30 pm

Dear Diary,

Today, I had an experience that shook me to my core. I forgot my own name, and with it, a part of my identity slipped away. It was a terrifying feeling of being lost and disconnected. But, thanks to a dear friend, I rediscovered my name and, in turn, rediscovered myself. It was a profound reminder of the importance of self-identity and the value of knowing who we truly are. I will cherish this awakening and hold onto my name with newfound appreciation.

Sarada
