NEWS REPORT OR REPORT
Report gives a spoken or
written account of something that one has observed, heard, done or
investigated. It is an account of a particular matter, especially in the form
of official document after thorough investigation or consideration.
You may use the
following hints to write the news report.
Ø What happened?
Ø When did it happen?
Ø Where did it happen?
Ø Who involved in the incident?
Ø The quotations of the persons involved in.
There
is a slight difference between report and news report.

well organized document which defined and analyses a subject or event or
problem and which may include

ü NEWS REPORT:
A news report is a description of
an incident or something that was happened. It has some features explained
below.
Format:
1. Head line: Usually
written in words or phrases to attract the reader towards the content.
2. By-line: It tells that who wrote the article. It is
usually written in food or sports news. May be ignored in general news.
3. Place line: It is
the place and date where and when it happened. Here we should add the name of
the place and the date of the news.
4. Introduction: It
summarizes the main points of the article i.e., who, what, when, where.
5. Body: It is
the complete illustration of the incident or something that has been done.
6. Quotation: It is
the spoken words of someone who involved in the news. It is written in
quotation marks.
E.g.
1: Write a news report on a ‘Clean and
Green’ programme conducted at your school as if you were the journalist. Give
essential information like where, when, who and how it is conducted etc.

Today, students at Government High School collaborated with the environmental
club to improve the school ground by making the garden clean and green, and
picking up the litter in the name of “Swach Bharath … Swach Vidhyalaya.”
‘Not only do trees benefit our
environment,’ says student volunteer Ramu ‘but they also improve the visual
quality of our school.’ Indeed, the high school area looks like the sense of
community spirit. Prakruthi Nursery of Ailapur donated 25 brooms, 30 trees,
soil and seeds for this project. ‘I was supposed to have so many donations and
student volunteers,’ says environmental club leader Rajesham, ‘It’s amazing to
know we have this community support and a keen sense of environmental
awareness.’
The benefits of this project do not
end at environment friendly. The school also had a fundraiser, where every
student would participate in a rally in groups around the city to raise funds
to make it an endless programme. The head master, Sarpanch, MPTC, all other
community leaders participated and, appreciated children.
E.g. 2: A teenage girl wins an award
for her bravery. She rescued two children who were drowning in the flood water
last month. Write a news report as if you were the local reporter. Give
necessary details of 5w’s.
SAGARIKA WON BRAVERY AWARD

New Delhi News report: 17th
July:
Sagarika, a teenager, won the Bhagathsingh National Bravery Award for her
bravery. She is to be awarded by the President of India on the Independence Day
Celebrations in New Delhi. She is a secondary school child who is studying
class IX in ZP High School Ramapur. “On the day” said the Head Master in
elegance, “while she was returning home from school there was a heavy rain fall
and flood hit our village as our village is located on the banks of the river
Godavari. Two primary school children were skid and slithered into the river.
They were in danger and crying for help. There happened the miracle. This
teenager child had shown her bravery, jumped into the river and rescued the
three children.”
“It’s the real gratitude
for Sagarika and we really proud of her” said a villager. One of the rescued boys
said, ‘we are really thankful to her and we don’t know how to show our gratitude
to her.’ ‘Many have to know how to be brave and helpful to others by the
inspiration of Sagarika’ said the Sarpanch, Narayana.
E.g. 3: Your
school has celebrated school Annual Day recently. The DEO was the Chief Guest.
The DEO and the Head Master and other teachers delivered their speeches.

The
School Annual Day Report
As earlier planned everything is done properly in the annual day.
The DEO was invited as the chief guest of honour and invitations sent to all
the people who were well-wishers of this school.
The programme was started when all the guests arrived at the stage.
The chairperson of the school lighted the lamp to inaugurate the programme at
5.00pm. Ms. Srujana, who is from class X, anchored the programme and invited
the guests of honour and all the invitees on to the dais, then she handed over
the programme schedule to the chairperson of the dais, the head master of the
school
The chairperson SMC delivered his speech and reported the
development activities of the school. He requested the officials on the dais to
sanction various posts for the school as there was shortage of staff according
to the strength. Then the head master of the school enlightened the success
stories of the school, such as results in board examinations, participation in
cultural programmes and sports at various levels.
There were many dance performances by the children of the school.
Then some of the children had done imitations of the famous personalities.
Everyone who attended the programme enjoyed the cultural programmes.
Then the prize distribution had been done by the guests to the winners
of different games and sports conducted prior to the programme. Finally, the
chief guest of honor the DEO of the district had delivered his speech and
assured the children to sanction the needy posts.
Finally, the anchor made vote of thanks to all the invitees, the well-wishers
of the school and the people who supported to make this programme a grand
success.
E.g.4: Suppose your school had
conducted a meeting on social issue, Girl Child Education, and invited the
local leaders. Many guests, teachers and the students expressed their views on
the topic.
Now prepare a news report on behalf of the reporter. Mention
the necessary details like headline, by line, place line, introduction, body of
the report and quotation etc.

Times Bureau Jagtial 12th February: A meeting
has been conducted on “The Girl Child Education” at Jagtial organized by the
department of education. The district collector, A Sharath, has started the
programme by lighting the lamp and said “The Girl is the Life. We must
encourage the girl children to grow. Now a day they excelled in all the
fields.” Mrs. Kavitha, G.C.D.O. said that women can change the world if they
are given ample opportunities. She recalled the great women leaders who changed
the society.
Children in their speech expressed
their views. They said that if they were given education on par with boys, they
could change their lives and their families as well. Children from various
schools were given prizes as they have stood first and second in different
competitions at district level. The District Educational Officer, the C.E.O. of
