 INTERVIEW

Interview is a meeting in which someone asks you questions to see if you are suitable for a job or a course or asks questions about yourself for a newspaper article, television show etc. Sometimes interview can be taken by friends and relatives to get some information too. Practice writing conversation and description before practicing interview. Writing conversation and description will help in writing interview. And practice as many questions as possible for every unit. Read the question given carefully. Do some rough work. Give names to the characters i.e., interviewer and interviewee or the names of the characters mentioned. Initially prepare some questions keeping the context or situation in the mind and answer them. Write the questions for interviewer and answers for interviewee. There may be some polite introduction and leave taking in the beginning and ending of the interview respectively. Take the help of the clues or subtext given in the question.

Reporter: How’s your master?

Nick: She was amazing, she taught me how to surf and everything that made me successful person in surfing history.

Reporter: How did you feel on your surfing board on first day?

Nick: I was terrified at first, but once I got up there it felt absolutely fantastic and I caught some waves pretty well.

Reporter: How’s it possible to you to make a 360-degree spin within 48 hours?

Reporter: How do you feel?

Villager: It’s about two years, I think. It has been giving us troubles. In the night time we are afraid to come out to nature calls.

Reporter: Do you know how did he catch the tiger?

Villager: You know. He is humble and modest of all brave people. He never feels proud of his bravery and said that he just caught his donkey.

Reporter: Can you show me where the potter lives?

Villager: It’s my pleasure. He lives behind the temple.

Reporter: How would you say?

Abel: My children along with their husbands started dividing things among themselves when they found me lying dead on the bed.

Reporter: But you are alive?

Abel: They thought so.

Reporter: Then….

Abel: They searched for my documents, will, insurance payment slips and they quarreled among themselves to share the things I left for. They had even not ready to care for funeral ceremony.

Reporter: I am so sorry. Do you think they would attend the marriage?

Journalist: What happened in the night?

Elder son: Our father, Bhayyaji, had retired from the work. He planned to build a storeyed house for us.

Journalist: Then …

Younger son: With the money he got by the retirement, we started construction and finished. We invited all our relatives, friends and the leaders of the village.

Elder son: We were cheered all the night with some music and having some dinner. Our father was full of contentment with his newly-built-house.

Younger son: Then it happened. Somebody had put fire to our house. That’s all the children and women screamed and ran out. But our father had surrounded by the fire.

Elder son: Look! Our mother was fainted and our grandmother was unconscious. Children were afraid of the incident.

Journalist: Who do you think did it?

Elder son: Everybody knew who did it. But nobody would come out and say what happened and who did it.

Younger son: But certainly, we teach them a lesson.

Journalist: Do you do the same thing to them?

Elder son: Not that but our father wished to build the storeyed house. But the Patils warned my father not to build a storeyed house as a rivalry for them. Hence our father decided to build a concealed once. Still they don’t bear it. And finally, it happened.

Younger son: Now we don’t care of anybody. We decided to build a storeyed house that is not a concealed one this time. So that we could make our father’s wish become true.

Journalist: Have you given any complaint?

Elder son: Some of our relatives had given it. The officers came and declared that it had happened because of the kerosene lamps flare up.

Journalist: May your father’s soul rest in peace.

Sons: Thank you.

Reporter: How did you meet him?

Roberge: It took me nine years to meet him personally. Although I wanted to meet him right then, I waited to know more about his works, because there could be worthwhile dialogue when we meet.

Roberge: Our friendship lasted 22 years even more till Ray’s demise in 1992. It was really great friendship with him.

Reporter: Could you please reveal some qualities you observed in Ray?

Reporter: May we know how depth your friendship is?

Roberge: He was a shy person. But after our friendship was cemented, he used to invite me to the screenings of his latest films and welcomed comments. We collaboratively established “Chitrabani” a communication and film institute.
