May or Might usage in Telugu

 May or Might రెండూ ఒకే అర్ధాన్నిఇస్తాయి.

Positive: may or might

Negative: may not or might not

ఉదా: I may learn.  లేదా  I might learn.  (నేను నేర్చుకోవచ్చును. అనగా నేను నేర్చుకునే అవకాశం ఉంది. కాని ఖచ్చితంగా నేర్చుకుంటానని అర్ధం కాదు.)

ఉదా: I may not learn.  లేదా  I might not learn.  (నేను నేర్చుకోకవచ్చును. అనగా నేను నేర్చుకోకపోయే అవకాశం ఉంది. కాని ఖచ్చితంగా నేర్చుకోనని అర్ధం కాదు.)

May ఉపయోగించడం వలన ఎక్కువ అవకాశాన్ని, Might ఉపయోగించడం వలన తక్కువ అవకాశాన్ని తెలియజేసినట్టుగా కొందరు Grammarians చెబుతారు. కానీ May అయినా Might అయినా అవకాశాన్ని మాత్రమే తెలుపుతుందని గుర్తుంచుకోవాలి.

కానీ, may లేదా  might లేకుండా simple present లో చెప్పినపుడు ఖచ్చిత్వం ఉంటుంది.

I learn.  (నేను నేర్చుకుంటాను. అనగా ఖచ్చితంగా నేర్చుకుంటానని అర్ధం.)

I don’t learn.  (నేను నేర్చుకోను. అనగా ఖచ్చితంగా నేర్చుకోనని అర్ధం.)

·        Possibility/Probability:

May or Might possibility or probability అనగా అవకాశాన్ని తెలుపుతుంది. ఇది ఊహించడం మాత్రమే. ఆ పని జరిగే అవకాశాన్ని మాత్రమే తెలియజేస్తుంది.

May or Might	Simple Present Tense
It may rain. (It is possible that it will rain.) వర్షం కురవవచ్చును.	It rains. (It is sure that it rains.) వర్షం కురుస్తుంది.
She may miss the bus. (It is possible that she will miss the bus.) ఆమె బస్ ను  miss అవవచ్చు.	She misses the bus. (It is certain that she misses the bus.) ఆమె బస్ ను miss అవుతుంది.
He may come today. (It is possible that he will come today.) అతను ఈరోజు రావచ్చును.	He comes today. (It is certain that he comes today.) అతను ఈరోజు వచ్చును.

·        Request or Permission:

అనుమతి అడుగుటకు లేదా ఇచ్చుటకు May or Might ను ఉపయోగిస్తారు.

Ex:         A: May I come in?

                B: Yes. You may/can.

                A: May I sit here.

                B: No. It is for the chairperson. You might sit there.

                A: Thank you may I know who the chairperson is?

                B: Of course. He is Mr. Monday.

·        To wish:

కోరిక లేదా దీవెనలను తెలుపుటకు కూడా May or Might లను ఉపయోగిస్తారు.

Ex:          May God bless you! (దేవుడు నిన్ను దీవించుగాక)

                May you live long! (కలకాలం వర్థిల్లు)

                May you be blessed! (దీవించబడుదువుగాక)

                May your wish come true! (నీ కోరికలు తీరుగాక)
